Jackson County Jail Mugshots
The official Jackson County Inmate Lookup page is designed to show booking photos on current roster cards. The roster code attempts to load an image from a path built with the booking number, using `inmate/{Book_Number}.jpg`, and it has a fallback call to `_getImage.php?ID={Book_Number}` if the first image path fails. The image alt text in the code is "Inmate Photo." That supports a direct but limited statement: current roster cards are built to show public booking photos for inmates listed by the county.
No separate official mugshot gallery, daily mugshot archive, or recent-bookings photo page was located in the researched county sources. The sheriff's Records area links inmates, crime reports, press releases, and other public information, but the crime reports are not a mugshot gallery. The booking-photo access point remains the current inmate roster, with public-records request channels for photos not shown online.
The county roster itself appears on the official Jackson County Inmate Lookup page.
The roster screenshot shows the practical search path for mugshots: search or sort the current inmate list, then open the card or profile route when a matching person appears.
Find Jackson County Mugshots
The same search controls used for custody lookup are used for Jackson County jail mugshots. The sort dropdown can show most recent bookings first, and the search box can narrow by name. A photo may not display if the person has not finished processing, if the image path fails, if the person is no longer on the public list, or if release, transfer, redaction, or another limitation affects the roster entry.
- Open the county Inmate Lookup page from the Jackson County website.
- Use Most Recent Inmates to browse new bookings, or type a name in the roster search box.
- Open the matching roster card or profile popup to see the booking photo and public booking fields that are available.
- If the person is not listed, check whether the case moved to release, MDOC custody, federal custody, immigration custody, or a court-only record.
- If the photo is needed and is not online, contact the sheriff or Adult Detention Center and make a Mississippi Public Records Act request for the booking photo or booking record.
A custody search is often the best first check before any photo request. The broader Jackson County inmate records page explains roster search fields, phone fallback, MDOC, BOP, ICE, VINELink, and the in-person Adult Detention Center channel.
Jackson County Photo Record
A mugshot on the Jackson County roster is one field in a booking record, not the whole record. The roster card and code identify the booking number, name fields, arresting agency, ID number, booking date, image route, and profile-popup route. A full profile may show more detail, but exact charge, bond, and housing labels were not confirmed through direct terminal fetch because the roster detail route returned a Cloudflare challenge outside the public page.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Booking Photo | The public roster image tied to the booking number, with a fallback image request if the first file path fails. |
| Name | First name or initial, last name, and middle-name variables used by the roster. |
| Booking Number | The jail control number on the roster card. Observed examples used a year-prefixed number format. |
| Booking Date | The booking date shown by the roster card as BookDate. |
| Arresting Agency | The agency variable attached to the roster list response. |
| ID Number | The identifier used to open the profile popup route. |
| Charges, Bond, or Housing | May appear if the county profile displays those details, but exact labels were not confirmed in the research fetch. |
For legal meaning, a booking photo is proof of intake, not proof of guilt. A roster charge is an allegation at the booking or case stage. Filed charges, dismissals, pleas, convictions, and expungements are handled in court records after an arrest.
Jackson County Mugshot Law
Mississippi's Public Records Act makes public records available for inspection unless an exemption applies. That is the general access route for Jackson County booking records and photos that are not visible on the current roster. The research did not locate a Mississippi statute that requires every jail to publish booking photos online. Jackson County publishes booking photos on its current-inmate roster when available, but that online display is not the same thing as a state mandate to maintain a public mugshot gallery.
Key statutes:
Miss. Code Ann. Sections 25-61-1, 25-61-3, and 25-61-5 establish public-record access, definitions, and inspection or copying procedure for Mississippi public bodies.
Miss. Code Ann. Section 25-61-12 allows law-enforcement exemptions that can affect investigative, sensitive, or restricted material.
Miss. Code Ann. Section 45-27-9 concerns fingerprints and photographs in criminal-history processing. It is not an online mugshot publication mandate.
That distinction is important. A booking photo may exist because the jail took it during intake, and the state criminal-history process may involve photographs, but the statute cited above does not require Jackson County to publish a lasting online mugshot page for every arrest.
Jackson County Mugshot Retention
The public roster did not publish how long booking photos remain after release. The safest reading is that photos are displayed for people currently shown by the inmate lookup, while older or prior booking-photo retention is not published on the public page. A person who was released, transferred to MDOC, moved into federal or immigration custody, or removed from the current roster may no longer be found through the county photo display.
What is and is not public: Current roster photos are public when the county displays them. Older photos, juvenile records, expunged records, sealed matters, investigative material, and restricted law-enforcement records may be withheld, redacted, or routed through a public-records review.
Do not treat a missing image as proof that no arrest occurred. The photo may not have loaded, the person may not have finished processing, or the booking may have moved out of the current roster window. A missing image also may mean the request belongs with the sheriff's records process rather than the live roster.
Request Jackson County Photos
For a booking photo that is not online, make the request through Jackson County Sheriff's Department or Adult Detention Center channels. Identify the record as narrowly as possible: full booked name, date of arrest or booking, arresting agency if known, and any booking number found in the roster. The Adult Detention Center directory lists 228-769-3211 for public contact and 228-769-3052 as the 24-hour number. The jail address is 65 Bruce Evans Drive, Pascagoula, MS 39567.
Use the Mississippi Public Records Act framing when asking for an older booking photo or booking sheet. The Act allows inspection or copying during regular business hours under reasonable procedures and fees, but law-enforcement exemptions can still apply. A request may receive a copy, a redacted copy, a denial citing an exemption, or direction to a court or another agency if the request is not a jail record.
The official ADC contact block appears on the county's Adult Detention Center directory.
Use those contact details for custody confirmation and for routing a records request when the photo no longer appears in the public roster.
Mugshot Removal and Expungement
Jackson County research did not locate a county-specific online mugshot removal form. If a record is dismissed, dropped, not filed, sealed, or expunged, the route is usually the court and records-clearing process, not a request to a private photo publisher. Mississippi Code Section 99-19-71 allows expunction for certain dismissed, dropped, no-disposition, not-guilty, and qualifying conviction records. Once a court grants relief, that order may affect public access to related booking or court records.
A person seeking removal or restriction should identify the court order, case number, agency record, and booking details before contacting the sheriff or clerk. For the court side of the process, the Jackson County court records after jail arrest page explains how booking charges move into court records, indictments, dispositions, and expungement issues.
Commercial mugshot sites are not part of the official Jackson County records chain. The official path is the county roster, sheriff or ADC records contact, Mississippi public-records law, and the court record if sealing or expungement is involved.
State and Federal Mugshots
MDOC, BOP, and ICE records should not be confused with Jackson County jail mugshots. MDOC is the statewide system for sentenced Mississippi prisoners and restitution-center residents, including Pascagoula Restitution Center. The MDOC locator uses name or MDOC ID number fields. It may show state custody information, and possibly a photo depending on what the state publishes, but it is not the Jackson County jail roster.
The BOP inmate locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to the present and shows identity, register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location fields. It does not publish local-style jail booking mugshots. ICE ODLS is also a custody locator, not a public mugshot gallery, and it requires JavaScript. No official BOP prison or ICE detention center was located in Jackson County during the research sweep.
| System | Photo Expectation | Use It When |
|---|---|---|
| Jackson County roster | Current roster cards are designed to show booking photos when available. | The person is in Adult Detention Center custody or current booking status. |
| MDOC | State locator may differ from county booking photo display. | The person has been sentenced or placed in MDOC restitution/community corrections. |
| BOP | No local-style public booking mugshot display. | The person is in federal sentenced custody. |
| ICE ODLS | No mugshot gallery. | The person may be in immigration custody or subject to an ICE process. |
Note: A mugshot is a booking record field. It should not be read as a court outcome, sentence, or proof of guilt.
